This coming Wednesday at 6:30 PM: The Audible Group

It will be a complete change of pace--and a chance in DC's heat and humidity to sit back and shiver, to look carefully behind, and get good and scared…

…because our featured guests will be The Audible Group, who create the delightfully spooky radio drama series "Troublesome Gap," now in its fourth episode. Creators James Konicek, Susan Lynskey, and Mathew Nielson will play excerpts and discuss how they write, compose, and devise every heart-thumping twist, turn, and sound-effect in the drama.

Come join us at the Goethe-Institut, 812 Seventh Street, NW (near the Gallery Place/Chinatown Metro, Red Line), Washington, D.C. 20001. Map

Please RSVP to (202) 289-1200, ext. 166; or rsvp@washington.goethe.org.

I came across a curious publication called Hear the World: The Magazine for the Culture of Hearing. My copy features articles about the sounds of surgery, "intercultural flatulence," the voice of Joni Mitchell, "running in nature--listening pleasures for the light of foot," hearing and forensics, and more. The main sponser is the Hear the World Foundation, and Phonak, a hearing-aid company. Published quarterly in Frankfurt, Germany, the journal will interest anyone into soundscapes and "deep" listening.
